The ICT Directorate is responsible for all IT infrastructure and related services at GOSH including IT hardware & software and many clinical and non-clinical IT systems and applications.


The ICT Project Management team are responsible for the implementation and delivery of Programmes and Projects across the Trust which include a significant ICT element. Projects range from in-house technical programmes solution design and implementation of clinical systems to ICT design, delivery and commissioning for Redevelopment and Decant/Enabling programmes (working in collaboration with Built Environment and Transformation colleagues).


The successful applicant will work with stakeholders to scope requirements for these minor projects, clarifying deliverables, and collaborating with ICT technical colleagues to progress requests through to successful implementation.
The role is responsible for ongoing management of small projects within the ICT department, planning tasks and managing progress and providing support to Senior Project Managers as required. To manage low level projects for new systems and processes defined as part of the technology strategy and to report to the Head of ICT Programmes to ensure the allocated project is on track
To ensure that all low-level projects are appropriately tracked and followed through
To manage minor ICT system upgrades if required, liaising with the technical teams and ensuring that appropriate documentation is signed off
To manage projects using an appropriate recognised methodology (PRINCE2, Agile)
To manage the lifecycle of allocated projects, including relevant human and financial resources
To identify risks and issues and take advice from Senior Project Managers & the Head of ICT Programmes on how to manage and mitigate those risks
Working with the Senior Project Managers, liaise with the organisations project leads and project sponsors
To ensure project boards are held and to support the project sponsor in meeting the objectives of each project board meeting
To create and allocate work packages and to escalate any delivery issues to a Senior Project Manager, or the Head of ICT Programmes as necessary

Demonstrable contribution to advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace

Academic/Professional Qualifications/Training
Degree level qualification, preferably in an IT environment, or equivalent demonstrable experience in a project management role, ideally within the NHS
Prince 2 Foundation or equivalent qualification or experience (2+ years in managing change projects)

ITIL Foundation or equivalent qualification
Qualification in programme management methodologies (e.g., Demonstrable experience in a project management or change role, preferably within the NHS or other public sector
Good knowledge of technology implementation, supporting business operation and controlled change
Aptitude for sharing knowledge with other ICT and Project Team members
Experience of budgetary / financial management within a project setting
Knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018 (GDPR) and Caldicott Guidelines

Ability to effectively track and report on project costs / expenditure
Ability to communicate to all levels of the organisation and translate complex project issues to a general audience
