We are seeking a skilled Construction Buyer with expertise in Turkish procurement to join our team. The Construction Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring construction materials from Turkey specifically for the UK market. This role requires a strong understanding of both Turkish suppliers and UK market requirements, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to ensure seamless integration of Turkish-origin materials into UK construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement a procurement strategy for sourcing construction materials from Turkish suppliers that meet the quality and regulatory standards of the UK market.

  • Supplier Identification: Identify and qualify Turkish suppliers capable of supplying materials that comply with UK specifications and standards.

  • Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with Turkish suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, favourable terms, and adherence to quality standards.

  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that materials sourced from Turkey meet the required standards and specifications for the UK market.

  • Logistics Coordination: Coordinate logistics and transportation of materials from Turkey to the UK, ensuring timely delivery and efficient supply chain management.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with in-house contractor including project managers, quantity surveyors and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure that Turkish-origin materials are seamlessly integrated into UK construction projects.

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with UK regulations, industry standards, and company policies in all procurement activities. Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications. Generate reports to track procurement performance and ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise the sourcing of materials from Turkey for the UK market.

Qualifications:

  • Turkish speaking
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in procurement, with a specialisation in sourcing materials from Turkey for international markets, preferably the UK.
  • Deep understanding of Turkish supplier landscape, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements, as well as UK market specifications and standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in working with digital procurement systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
