Geotechnical Design Engineer

Working from home, with perhaps one day a week in the office, this challenging and exciting opportunity, requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in the design of projects from the geotechnical, piling and foundations sectors.

Our Client

Our client is a specialist in the design, supply and installation of all forms of geotechnical engineering, piling and ground engineering techniques and disciplines. They are vastly experienced in delivering innovative foundations, ground engineering and piling solutions in a wide range of sectors including industrial, commercial and residential, with additional works such as permanent steel, sheet piled basements, retaining walls, temporary worksand bracing for the rail, roads and infrastructure arena, amongst many others.

Overview

Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of contracts, our client is now looking to appoint a Geotechnical Design Engineer to produce designs for their geotechnical engineering, foundations and piling division. You will be responsible for ensuring technical design excellence and governance over design pertaining to all work winning and contract technical issues for the company. You will provide guidance to other members of the team and Directors with regards to all aspects relating to design activity.

The Role

Managing the production of designs to ensure that the needs of the work winning and operational teams are met in a timely manner, in order to ultimately meet the requirements of clients

Manage and advise on all piling and foundations designs

Provide technical support for the estimating and contracts delivery teams with current or potential clients

Ensure you play an active part in keeping appropriately motivated to deliver high quality design solutions for the business and its clients

To challenge, review and approve designs, and be proactive to identify potential to reduce risk and improve efficiency wherever possible

Ensure that designs adhere to relevant Eurocodes and company policies or business objectives, and the compliance to legal requirements and best practice procedures

The Person

You will possess up to date technical knowledge of foundations, piling and general geotechnical engineering industry design best practice, with experience in producing designs relating to all types of the aforementioned disciplines

You will be proficient in routine and complex design calculations

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with all stakeholders

Client centric and flexible in your approach, you will possess the strategic and creative insight to understand the full range of opportunities contained within tenders

Possess hands on experience of leading the technical design aspects of tenders
