DESIA operates on a remote-first basis, with the team working in GMT hours for synchronization. Our founding team works from an office in London, and while working there isn't mandatory, everyone is invited to join.
We are looking for an experienced backend engineer with a focus on architecting and building scalable distributed backend systems and APIs that can run on Kubernetes on Cloud or on-prem. This role gives you a lot of autonomy and is critical in shaping and building the product.
Write clean, well-documented and tested high-quality code, establish standards in the team, review code and pull requests from other team members.
Ensure the performance of the services is optimal and anticipate future growth.
Strong technical foundation in software engineering or a related field, with a solid understanding of computer science principles, such as design patterns and data structures.
Proven experience with backend development, specifically in architecting and building scalable data-intensive distributed systems.
Familiarity with Cloud technologies and infrastructure services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), including an understanding of best practices for security and scalability.
Proficiency in developing external and internal secure and scalable APIs, focusing on security, clean architecture, performance and maintainability.
Experience with distributed tracing and logging tools to monitor and optimize service performance.
Strong coding skills in one or more programming relevant to backend development (e.g., Python, Rust, Go, NodeJS).
Commitment to code quality, with a track record of writing clean, well-documented, and tested code. Experience with code review and establishing coding standards within a team.
Ability to anticipate future growth and performance needs of the services, with experience planning and implementing scalable solutions.
Experience with generative AI systems or working closely with AI engineers on machine learning projects.
Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices for building, scaling, and maintaining such systems in a production environment.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment.
Holding a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field or possessing similar practical experience.
