Cloud Infrastructure Architect

We are working with a prestigious global energy sector service company to assist in sourcing a Cloud Infrastructure Architect to be based in Westhill on a permanent basis who will have responsibility for providing expert cloud and infrastructure architecture support for Enterprise Architecture Team.

Responsible for the vision and definition of the solution architecture, its refinement, and realization according to the business requirements and goals. Candidates in the role are expected to lead technical teams and interface directly with support teams and management.

Job Description:

• Designing and developing cloud-based, hybrid and on-premises solutions for the organisation across multiple platforms. This includes working with stakeholders to understand their needs, designing and building cloud-based applications and managing the cloud infrastructure. The Cloud Infrastructure Architect must have a strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code and on-premises infrastructure such as compute and storage technologies.
• Designing and developing cloud-based solutions for the organisation.
• Creating/supporting a well-informed cloud infrastructure strategy and managing the adaptation process.
• Evaluating cloud applications, hardware, and software.
• Developing and organizing cloud infrastructure.
• Working closely with cyber security to ensure the organisation’s cloud security integrity is maintained.
• Responding to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
• Vetting and selecting cloud providers, cloud technologies and associated third-party services.
• Maintaining knowledge of technology developments to support definition of technology roadmaps.
• Ensuring smooth hand over to operations for assigned applications or services.
• Ensuring effective user support, training sessions, versioning and enhancement management are in place.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven work experience in Cloud Infrastructure or similar role.
• Proven experience with both AWS and Azure workloads.
• Experience of traditional on-premises storage and compute infrastructure environments
• Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.
• Relevant training and/or certifications essential.
• Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Proven experience of designing and implementing cloud solutions.
• Ability to work with and influence multinational teams & the ability to work independently.
