Strategic Director – the role

The strategic director must bring creativity, imagination, rigorous analysis, business acumen and cultural insight to developing and delivering strategic brands for the agency’s clients.

The agency are looking for people who are talented brand strategists who bring creativity and flair to their work, built on a foundation of strong analytical and research skills.

The strategic director must be enthusiastically engaged with the world of brands and branding, someone able to make imaginative leaps into the future, and take others with them. They must be open, collaborative and respectful and enjoy working within a team of like-minded people.

Strategic Director – Job responsibilities

• Delivering strategic point of view for clients’ brands

• Proposing options for brand positioning territories

• Appraising clients’ corporate and brand equities

• Analysing competitors and categories in order to propose or challenge brand

opportunities

• Identifying relevant trends in global consumer culture

• Brand Identity analysis and benchmarking, including semiotic analysis

• Gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative research to extract insights that

can shape strategy

• Experienced in presenting to Board level clients

• Have a persuasive and engaging approach

• Customer journey mapping/experience mapping to identify brand experience gaps and

co-creating better alternatives.

• Identifying innovation opportunities

• Designing and facilitating co-creative workshops

• Crafting brand values, brand purpose, positioning statements, brand personality

• Developing brand architectures, brand names and nomenclature systems

• Writing creative briefs

Strategy Director – qualifications and experience

  • Experience of having delivered large-scale brand strategies for well-known brands, at a leadinginternational brand consultancy.
  • A strong understanding of strategic research techniques.
  • Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills in English; strong presentation skills. Additional languages are an advantage.
  • Professional/educational experience of being able to interpret large amounts of information,sometimes incomplete, and effectively communicating findings and conclusions.
