Fixed Income - Trading Assistant

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled individual to join our trading team as a Senior Hedge Fund Trading Assistant. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our traders and optimizing trading operations in the fixed income markets. This position requires a deep understanding of fixed income products, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade Execution and Management: Execute and manage trades in cash bonds and repos, ensuring timely and accurate execution while adhering to trading guidelines and risk parameters.
  • Trade Support and Coordination: Provide comprehensive support to traders throughout the trade lifecycle, including trade idea generation, execution, booking, confirmation, and settlement.
  • Market Analysis and Research: Conduct in-depth analysis of fixed income markets, identify trading opportunities, and provide insights to traders and portfolio managers.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Monitor and manage trade-related risks, including counterparty exposure, liquidity risk, and market risk. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Trade Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate trade documentation, including trade tickets, confirmations, and settlement instructions. Generate reports and analysis as required.
  • Technology Utilization and Optimization: Utilize trading platforms and other technology tools effectively to execute trades, streamline processes, and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with traders, portfolio managers, risk managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth trading operations and achieve investment objectives.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior trading assistants. Lead by example and contribute to the professional development of team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field. Advanced degree or CFA designation is a plus.
  • Minimum 3-10 years of experience in fixed income trading or related financial services role, with a strong focus on cash bonds and repos.
  • Deep understanding of fixed income products, market dynamics, and trading strategies.
  • Proven track record of executing and managing trades in fixed income markets.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and market trends.
  • Proficiency in using Bloomberg Terminal, trading platforms, and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
