The Harry James Group is working in partnership with a globally recognised EPC who are currently expanding due to current and new projects secured. Our client is looking to appoint Commissioning Engineers for the Energy Storage & Optimization business. The position will report to the Manager in Project Delivery.

Responsibilities:
  1. Commissioning of stationary battery energy storage system and related equipment
  2. Collaborates with the relevant team in the preparation and coordination of projects technical materials
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute testing protocols to achieve commercial operation, based on market rules, local AHJ/utility requirements, and contracts.
  4. Communicate commissioning plan and performance test procedures and activities with the client.
  5. Prepare and maintain commissioning time schedule.
  6. Organize start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contract.
  7. Ensure that commissioning plan and performance tests procedures are followed.
  8. Safeguard the compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioning.
  9. Ensure that safe commissioning practices are followed.
  10. Ensure that all test results are documented according to instructions.
  11. Maintain good reporting practices.
  12. Ensure that safe and calibrated test equipment are used.
  13. Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the client for taking over of the plant.
  14. Compile commissioning documents for submittal to the client.
  15. Ensure safe and reliable function of the plant and equipment.
  16. Ownership of administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to: service reports, issue logging/tracking, job safety analysis, quality compliance.
  17. Drive continuous improvement on developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge to enable other organizations to effectively resolve customer problems and inquiries.
Additional Job Requirements:
  1. Familiar with lithium-ion battery
  2. Familiar with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC)
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction and operational issues
  4. Experience and understand in CAD drawing
  5. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds
  6. Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexible
  7. Experience with utility scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and products (bi-directional inverters, various battery chemistries, PV, wind turbines, flywheels, etc.)
  8. Understanding of Inverter, Converter, Transformer, Battery, Circuit breaker, Fuse, AC/DC power supply electrical equipment
  9. Understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practices
  10. Applicant should be able to explain in detail the electrical principals of voltage, current, power, energy, charge, resistance, inductance, capacitance, DC voltage, AC voltage, single-phase, and three-phase power and other fundamental electrical engineering concepts
  11. Applicant should be able to read and understand drawings of electrical controls for industrial automation, switchgear control and protection, involvement with medium voltage equipment and networks schematics. Especially single-line, three-line, fire safety systems, and communication diagrams
  12. Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes power quality analysis, harmonics and their operation
  13. Ability to configure and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.)
  14. Experience with industrial control methods and SCADA systems
