We are looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our mixed speciality unit (Hedgehog Ward). The patient mix is varied and covers both surgical and medical specialities with lengths of stay varying between day-case and long-term admission of six weeks or more.


In Hedgehog Ward you will be delivering care to patients with a diverse range of conditions and it provides great opportunities to develop a breadth of nursing experience. Some of the specialities include neurology, cardiac, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, general surgery, urology, respiratory to name a few.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
NMC registered nurse (child branch) or able to join the NMC child branch register for candidates educated outside of the UK
Relevant nursing qualification
Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies
Significant experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children and young people or transferable specialist skills
Knowledge and experience of handling clinical incidents, complaints and reporting

Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients
Able to confidently use and navigate IT systems to provide care and complete duties

Understanding of diversity and inclusion challenges in the workplace
Demonstrable contribution to advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace
