The team

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of soft services to all employees across the Cambridge Campus and supporting other locations as required.

To plan and deliver both functional strategy as well as day to day operations to our Workplace environments. You’ll be ensuring that all services are effectively and efficiently delivered across the Campus, including third party contracts and other site project and activities.

Role and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management of team members and subcontractors, including pro-active development of their skills, knowledge levels and qualifications relevant to their area of specialism, performance levels and workload, establishing objectives against agreed strategies
  • Accountable for the provision, delivery and management of costs of externally provided services of multi-disciplinary teams of workers for outsourced services (catering, cleaning, landscaping, maintenance, postal services etc.)
  • Prioritise savings opportunities and takes a unified approach with our various purchasing locations to meet with the potential suppliers and get the lowest possible total cost; concentration on cost savings
  • Pro-active resource and cost management, allocation and monitoring of workplace projects and planned and ad hoc requests and activities. Report trends, anomalies, corrective actions to the Director of Global Real Estate to determine service improvements as part of a continuous improvement process
  • In collaboration with Finance, develop, establish, and coordinate ‘Requests for Proposals’ on our major categories of spend associated with the workplace. Invite key/core suppliers to provide solutions and cost proposals for our business requirements, evaluate proposals, make supplier recommendations, select suppliers, award business, and handle contracts for key stakeholders
  • Responsible for managing the operational relationships with the customer groups’ Finance teams in the effective and timely provision of budget and actual costs as agreed.

What you’ll bring

  • Provide advice and guidance to the business on best practice service design, delivery standards, asset and property lifecycle management and financial management through the use of key stakeholder groups
  • Through a cross-functional and collaborative team approach drive the Category Management process for both global and site level Capital & Workplace initiatives.
  • Responsible for close liaison with Health & Safety and Engineering for the maintenance of appropriate building and work environment standards as per legislation and pharmaceutical industry best practice
  • Responsible for management of and relationships with key suppliers ensuring budget and service reviews are regularly delivered.
