Product Design Engineer - Electronics and Software Development Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Product Design Engineer specializing in electronics and software development to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product design for safety-critical systems, with a focus on smoke ventilation and fire safety applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of life-saving products. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and prototype electronic products for smoke ventilation systems from concept to production.
  • Create PCB layouts and schematics using CAD tools tailored for safety-critical systems.
  • Write and maintain embedded software and firmware for microcontrollers and related components.
  • Ensure that firmware updates and modifications meet safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product compliance with smoke ventilation and fire safety standards.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of hardware, software, and firmware to ensure product reliability and functionality in emergency situations.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation for design, development, and compliance testing.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in the field of smoke ventilation and life safety systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in product design, PCB layout, embedded software, and firmware development, ideally in safety-critical industries such as fire safety or HVAC.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools for PCB design.
  • Experience in programming languages such as C/C++ or similar for embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems, and hardware/software integration in safety-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with safety testing equipment and procedures (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, functional safety assessments).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced and regulated environment.
Day-to-day:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new products.
  • Create and review PCB layouts and schematics using CAD tools.
  • Write and maintain embedded software and firmware for microcontrollers.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation for design and compliance testing.
