As a Barclays Oracle Database Administrator (DBA), you will be part of the EaaS (Environment as a Service) team, supporting quality security compliant Database Releases, Database and Golden Gate break-fixes, and performance issues for different teams. Helping the business to make wise choices in database requirements, with extensive interaction with both the Testing team and Project leads in day-to-day operations for different phases of database activities owned by EaaS. What will you be doing?

• Working with the relevant Project teams to provide innovative/automation solutions to meet the database delivery demands by the business
• Demonstrating ownership and control of Database releases and activities
• Being accountable for Automating database refresh and data deployments
• Working with Project Managers to understand requirement and deliver as per requirements
• Interacting with testing team and project leads during day-to-day operations for all different phase of database activities owned by EaaS
• Building significant relationships with stakeholders through effective communication skills and delivering what is required
• Helping a small team of juniors DBAs for small project activity
• Maintaining DB release processes, identify and fix gaps in DB release processes in line with the project delivery, cost and efficiency


What we’re looking for:

• Oracle RAC experience /hands-on is a desired, sound technical knowledge of RAC technology
• Oracle dataguard experience is a must, with very good understanding of Oracle dataguard
• Desired to know Oracle backup and recovery scenarios, RMAN techniques
• Hands on experience of Oracle Golden setup and issue troubleshooting


Skills that will help you in the role:

• Completion of BE/MCA/Master’s Degree
• Experience of using DEVOPS Tools, such as, Jenkins, CHEF, Nolio, GIT, Nexus, Vault (eg. CyberArk or equivalent)
• Basic knowledge on the AWS Cloud, PDB Cloning, Snapshot cloning, Storage cloning
• Oracle Certified will be an advantage


Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke Hall, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our Tech Command Centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64-acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
