We are looking for Delivery Managers, Technical Managers and Functional Managers within Air Engineering.
As a Delivery Manager you will use your sound engineering knowledge and experience to propose and deliver solutions to problems throughout our product development cycle. You will play a key role in integrating components and systems together. You will manage all aspects of engineering, delivering them to high standards through ensuring sound engineering governance. You will understand and manage the maturity of our engineering solutions as they develop and you take corrective action to ensure our products are the best they can be. You will lead the integration of engineering across all aspects of Air platforms & products, covering all stages in the engineering lifecycle - from concept to delivery. Your role will be to ensure high quality engineering activities are executed to schedule, on budget and delivered right first time. This role offers the opportunity to work across many of the engineering disciplines that are necessary to design and develop our portfolio of products and systems.
As a Technical Manager you will take a leading role interfacing with our customers, understanding their requirements and keeping them involved during product development. You will be able to influence a diverse and highly skilled community of engineers, whilst also interfacing with non-engineering functions across the business. You will be responsible for authorising the engineering integration of systems at all lifecycle stages as well as ensuring our engineering product meets expected standards. You will work with and guide your subject matter experts to propose, develop and deliver engineering products and solutions that meet our customers needs.
As a Functional Manager you will be responsible for increasing and enhancing our engineering capability, through evaluating and implementing new tools and processes fit for the future with opportunities to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be inquisitive, exploring new and unique ways of working, thinking outside the box to deliver innovative solutions and embracing new tools and technologies. We have big plans to transform the way we engineer our products, with new and exciting tools entering the market, we need to continually keep ahead of the competition through improving our ways of working - you will be at the forefront of this as you play a key role in shaping the way our engineers work for decades to come.We are looking for experienced Engineering Managers with relevant & potentially diverse industry experience, to complement our highly skilled and growing engineering teams, working on cutting edge air defence projects. As a direct entry Executive, you will have the opportunity to lead engineering teams involved in complex systems engineering projects through all stages in their lifecycle, from concept, to delivery and also throughout in-service product use. What you'll be doing:
You will be leading and working as part of an established systems engineering team in a highly regulated environment, working on key platforms / projects, both new concept and ongoing support to in service products and services. We have opportunities to work in areas such as electric air vehicles, uncrewed air vehicles, Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), Tempest, Typhoon, Hawk & F-35
You will collaborate with multiple functions (engineering, project management, human resources, etc.) and support our engineers through applying your engineering experience and knowledge
You will be able to propose and develop engineering and business solutions to problems throughout our product development cycle. You will manage aspects of engineering, delivering them to high standards through ensuring good engineering practice and governance
You will understand and manage the maturity of our engineering solutions as they develop and you take corrective action to ensure our products are the best they can be
We are looking for general engineering managers, with leadership qualities and diverse experience, in areas of engineering such as; Bid Management, System Architecting, System Design, System Realisation, Test & Evaluation, Configuration Control, Requirements Management and Product Qualification & Certification
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Experience managing teams and teams of teams to deliver complex engineering solutions
Experience in Systems Engineering activities involved in the development of complex systems across engineering lifecycles
Excellent people management, leadership communication and IT skills
Desirable:
Degree educated in a STEM subject/ Chartered
You should also ideally have experience of working with engineering tools and methods and to engineering standards in a highly regulated industry
Experience of Model Based Engineering approaches and the supporting methods and toolsets
