Lead Actuary

Valayo are working with a specialty (re)insurance group who are looking to appoint a Lead Actuary to drive and enhance its risk analytics and performance evaluation framework across a growing portfolio. This is a high-impact role suited to an experienced actuary who enjoys working closely with senior leadership, challenging assumptions and building new analytical capabilities from the ground up. Your role will straddle actuarial, underwriting, finance and strategy, to help shape views of risk, informing decision-making and steering performance. Key Responsibilities: Lead quarterly actuarial analyses across multiple business segments using both traditional and non-traditional methods Develop, refine and scale a performance monitoring framework to support growth initiatives Introduce and embed stochastic analysis into actuarial selections, monitoring and risk evaluation Produce and present insights to executive leadership, committees and internal stakeholders Run deep-dive investigations, build datasets, and generate analytical recommendations that drive strategic change Work collaboratively with internal and external actuarial teams, senior technical stakeholders, and insurance partners The succesful candidate is likely to have 7+ years of experience and come from a mixed actuarial background of Reserving and/or Capital/Cat Modelling.
