The post holder will act as one of the Trusts Patient Safety Specialists and will lead on the implementation of the Patient Safety Strategy (PSIRF). Demonstrable extensive experience relating to clinical governance and patient safety
Demonstrable experience of supporting staff who are recovering from being involved in an untoward patient safety incident
Experience of reviewing and leading Serious Incident review panels and Complaint investigations
Experience of improving patient safety in services through the application of Quality Improvement methodologies
Experience of implementing new systems or new national policy within an NHS organisation

Previous experience at Senior Manager or Manager level


Highly developed knowledge of Clinical Governance/Risk Management/Patient Safety issues and the principles of Clinical Governance and Risk Management within the NHS reinforced by significant experience in the Clinical/ Management field
Highly developed knowledge of Safety II
Graduate or Clinical Qualification relating to specialty
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Clinical Governance or Risk Management Qualification
Master's degree
Managerial qualification to post graduate diploma.
Patient Safety Level 5 training
Human Factors training

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
Project Management and Quality Improvement methodology skills
Computer and statistical literacy

To demonstrate role modelling in patient safety, taking into account human factors, lived experience and an approach that exemplifies a Just Culture approach
