Vehicle Line Manager – Electric Powertrain
Forseven, a revolutionary company is looking to transform the EV industry through cutting-edge technology and innovative engineering practices, are seeking a Vehicle Line Manager – Electric Powertrain to join our highly skilled and dynamic Vehicle Electrification Team. This role will be reporting into the Engineering Manager – Powertrain Delivery.
The role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of our offices in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.
As part of a high performing engineering team, this role will be focused on the successful ownership and delivery of Electric Powertrain Programmes, covering HV batteries, e-motors, power electronics, thermal systems and their packaging and integration for a variety of vehicle applications.
What you will do:
- Delivery responsibility and attribute balancing of the Electric Powertrain systems for a defined vehicle programme, operating within a matrix engineering organisation.
- Responsible for the Cost, Quality and Timing of the team delivery.
- Support preparation of technical proposals both from Forseven to customers as well as suppliers to Gordon Murray.
- Leadership of a team of engineers who will create EV Architectures, integrate technology solutions and deliver commodities from both suppliers and cross functional team members.
- Report progress and milestones to the PMO and actively participate in planning and scoping exercises.
- Provide guidance to ensure that key components are correctly specified, integrated and packaged in accordance with vehicle requirements at a system level including compliance with any necessary environmental, electrical, Functional Safety, EMC and legislative regulations.
- Oversee the DFMEA process to ensure that the proposed approach provides suitable coverage for the technologies and risks associated with the programme.
- Act as a point of escalation for any integration issues that may arise between the electrical and vehicle teams within Forseven.
- Create and operate a risk register to ensure that identified risks are captured, understood, assigned and mitigated at an appropriate level of priority.
- Advocate the fault management system to ensure that an appropriate approach is taken to resolving any outstanding faults.
- In conjunction with the technical engineering managers, support recruitment and ongoing professional development of the engineering team.
Who you are:
- Possession of an Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive or similar honours engineering degree. Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
- Significant experience of Electric Powertrains (Battery to Driveshaft) within an automotive engineering environment.
- Recent experience in delivering into high volume vehicle programmes.
- An inspiring leader, able to get the best out of a diverse, multi-skilled team.
- Articulate, self-motivated, and able to work well on own initiative.
- Project management qualifications are an advantage.
- Demonstrable understanding of electric powertrain architectures and underlying principles and technologies including thermal management, HV harnessing, electrical safety systems, serviceability and control strategies.
- Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, DVP, quality planning, PPAP etc) and full product lifecycle activities.
- A comprehensive understanding of the V-Cycle and its application in an automotive environment.
- Experience of project engineering with Tier 1 suppliers, preparation of project documentation and reports. Risk management, mitigation and recovery planning.
- Full driving licence is essential. No visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union.
