The Role:

As Tetra Tech builds on its demonstrable track record as one of the leading global environmental consultancies, we are seeking a talented Team Leader to join our team in the East Midlands.With ambitions to grow our UK presence to emulate the success of the global business, we are looking for an experienced ecologist to join our established network of over 95 ecologists with the energy to contribute to a diverse project portfolio.

The role will involve leading and developing the East Midlands team whilst providing support to the ecology management team with business development activities across the UK in line with our ecology strategy. This will include leading on, supporting with and coordinating the technical elements of bids, tenders and framework opportunities so requiring a sound understanding of the technical aspects of ecological consultancy as well as being commercially astute will be essential. You will work closely with our environmental managers and bid support team.

With a passion to achieve the best environmental outcomes on projects, the person in this role will be a confident and competent ecologist and we will encourage professional development in areas that align with our ecology, environmental or group strategies as well as their own interests. The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing people and projects of varying scales. We will provide inhouse project management training and encourage you to lead on projects that align with your technical skillset. With an eye for detail and a desire to deliver to high standards, we would like you to provide support and feedback to colleagues on project deliverables as well as bids and proposals. You will also be required to work with colleagues from across the wider business on multi-disciplinary opportunities and projects so a willingness to understand how other parts of the business work would be advantageous.

The person in this role will be able to draw on their professional network to add value to bids, business development and projects. It would be advantageous if you enjoyed developing relationships with clients and colleagues and demonstrated an ability to use your network to identify opportunities that would be of benefit to the ecology team and Tetra Tech.

We pride ourselves on our ability to offer professional ecology advice across a breadth of sectors including residential, defence, energy, government services and transport.We can draw on the knowledge of sector leads and experienced technical consultants from across Tetra Tech, as well as the support of our wider ecology team, to develop the best solutions.

Given the variety of projects we work on, we are looking for an ecologist who has experience with feeding into masterplans and who can confidently adapt their technical knowledge to specific client and project requirements, including liaison with stakeholders.With support from the regional and wider national teams, and in line with our defined career framework, you will continue to develop your expertise across many areas of ecology.

We Lead with Science and we encourage our team to share their findings with the industry (subject to sensitivities of timings and client permissions). We also encourage research-based elements to be brought into projects and many of the projects we have worked on have resulted in publications and we encourage our team to continue to do this.

Flexible Working:

The role will require some site work and occasional travel dependent on location of projects. However, we operate fully flexible, hybrid working which allows our ecologists to choose where, how and when they work as long as our clients are receiving the high-quality service they expect.
