Department/Role overview

The Transformation Management Office (TMO) is an integral part of shaping, defining, and delivering a portfolio of initiatives aligned to the Firm's Strategy.

The Project Manager will work with stakeholders, SMEs, and other TMO resources to deliver complex initiatives across the firm to define and manage the delivery of a new Enterprise Service Management tool for the Firm.

Main responsibilities

This person must demonstrate the ability to work on projects of high complexity across all levels of stakeholders and third parties within a high-performance environment and with a relentless focus on deliverables.

Senior Project Management :

  • Support Business Leads to develop robust Business Cases, including financial (budget and benefit) measures.
  • Lead and direct project teams, globally where necessary, to ensure timely delivery of projects, keeping within budget and managing risk to the firm.
  • Work directly with third-party vendors on the delivery of the project.
  • Plan, design and proactively monitor project progress; resolve issues and initiate appropriate action.
  • Actively seek out project dependencies with other initiatives underway within the Firm and implement effective management controls.
  • Work with business change and communications professionals (internal & external) to implement plans to effectively deliver the transformation.
  • Facilitate a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that change projects consider effective process streamlining before moving to technology investment.
  • Act as a coach/mentor for Project Managers where a requirement is identified.
  • Create and deliver project work plans and revisions as appropriate in alignment with the Project Delivery Framework.
  • Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a project manager with a proven track record of successfully managing and leading global projects through the full project life cycle in a professional services company, ideally a law firm.
  • Experience of agile and waterfall project methodologies.
  • Experience across the whole project lifecycle including scoping, scheduling, costing, resourcing, change, communications, quality, risk, and project closure.
  • Demonstrable experience of end-to-end project management and deployment of Enterprise Service Management tooling (e.g. ServiceNow) to an IT function and across other functional areas (HR, Finance, etc.).
  • Advanced organisational and influencing skills, flexibility of style, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-pressure, detail-oriented environment.
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment with excellent troubleshooting, decision-making, and follow-through skills.
  • Develop and manage project risk documentation ensuring that required project documentation is properly completed.
  • Track progress against plans, budget, and agreed KPIs, alerting relevant stakeholders promptly to variances and recommending changes and developing contingency plans where necessary.
  • Experience with working closely with the change and communications team to ensure that stakeholder analysis, change impact analysis, and benefit analysis are delivered effectively.
  • Excellent people skills with a track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • AgilePM, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certifications.

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience of managing business change within a shared services environment with strong focus on standardisation and optimisation.
  • Good level of process improvement awareness and use of associated techniques (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Change management qualification (PROSCI).
  • Experience in working in a global environment and across multiple time zones.
