Who We’re Looking For

At Spark Academy, we're on the lookout for dedicated SEN tutors who are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners. We are looking for qualified SEN teachers who are excited to provide 1:1 tutoring to children and young people with a range of learning needs. This role is ideal for educators who adopt a holistic, creative, adaptable, and trauma-sensitive approach to teaching. Spark aims to improve the educational support for vulnerable young people across the UK. As a tutor with Spark Academy, you'll be part of a supportive team, with SEN Support Specialists available to assist you throughout every placement. About the SEN/SEND Tutor Role

As a SEN/SEND tutor at Spark Academy, you will provide tailored Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with various needs, including SEND, SEMH, MLD, and SLD. Our students are referred to us by local authorities and schools and require holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring to support their educational and social-emotional journeys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and Deliver Engaging Sessions : Plan and deliver engaging, holistic sessions tailored to each student's needs. Lessons will be mostly in-person.
  • Tailor Lesson Plans : Take the stress away with access to a pool of pre-planned lessons that you can personalise to fit each student.
  • Supportive Learning Environment : Foster a supportive learning environment to enhance both academic and social-emotional development.
  • Progress Feedback : Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on student progress.

Requirements

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications : QTS/QTLS.
  • Experience : Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, with a background in working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, and/or SLD students.
  • Knowledge : Understanding of safeguarding processes and the ability to promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of students.
  • Enhanced DBS : Required (we can assist with obtaining this).
  • References : Two professional references.
  • Location : Must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK.
  • Driving Licence : Desirable for facilitating in-person sessions.

Employment Status

  • Worker Engagement : Engage as a Worker providing short-term engagements via a contract for service.
  • PAYE Payment : Paid via PAYE with our insurance covering your work.
  • Not Self-Employed : This is not a self-employed position; no set amount of work or expenses coverage offered.
