Job Description

The Visual Digital Designer will play a crucial role on the Design team, responsible for leading the end-to-end design process from concept to completion. This role is ideal for a hands-on designer with a deep understanding of digital best-practices, responsive design, an unquestionably keen eye, and a mastery of design software. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative creative thinker, detail-oriented self-starter, and possess exceptional visual design skill for digital media. This position requires high attention to detail with a passion to push the envelope in smart and creative ways.

This role will work as an embed role into the UK marketing team to help ‘power up’ the quality and consistency of digital and social content for UK brands like Blu and Rizla.

Key Capabilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Arts/Graphic Design (or related field) or equivalent years of experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in the digital design industry.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Sketch, Final Cut Pro, After Effects. Maya and/or 3D Studio Max a plus.
  • Familiarity with current UX and prototyping tools.
  • Experience in content creation and UX principals (guiding teams with directional copy and design flow).
  • Ability to storyboard, comp visual ideas, and create light creative copy.
  • Advanced conceptual creative and production skills with a strong understanding of layout principles, aesthetic design concepts and typography.
  • Proven experience creating campaigns and extending the look and feel through various marketing materials.
  • Able to complete tasks within tight schedules and under strict layout controls.
  • Knowledge and advocacy of user-centered digital design principles.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Works quickly under pressure and turn around designs on tight deadlines.
  • Responsive design experience.
  • An exceptional online portfolio showcasing interactive design that demonstrates refined use of typography, layout, unique visual language development, and an understanding of usability principles.

Job Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree educated – BA - Design or equivalent Digital Design experience
  • Mid-level design, marketing, development, innovation experience applied in business settings with demonstrated business success.
  • Commercial acumen developed from experience of being part of a multifunctional team
  • Design expertise including all aspects of Branding, Design & Innovation process, knowledge of design thinking and how this applies to the business, knowledge of global design culture, design communication, design organization and design structures in other industries, business and business processes understanding at strategic, tactical and operational level.
  • Design experience in a FMCG environment
  • Experience of other Design disciplines including brand, structural packaging, POS, expert, advertising, digital UX/UI, Environment
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative market and digital design research
  • Experience with global and local design partners in global and local design projects
  • Solid strategic thinking, commercial and marketing skills
  • Understanding of the strategic challenges competitive, environmental, consumer trends, and competitive environment facing a business.
  • Experience successfully cooperating with people of different levels internally and externally multiple design partners.
  • Ability to recognize, respond to (internal and external) customer expectations with sense of urgency
  • Ability to take actions, decisions & to generate ideas, strategies in promised timely manner; involvement in designs or other work requiring creative imagination
  • Application of Design Thinking methodology, practice and tools.
  • Agile and distributed decision-making – using evidence and applying judgement to balance pace, rigor and risk

Desirable:

  • Tobacco or FMCG sector experience
  • Experience in Lifestyle branding
  • Experience in a regulated market with complex legal and regulatory pathways.
  • Working with Inclusive Design principles
  • DTC Digital Design and Development
  • Understanding and experience in how design change can affect the brand business model (metrics and measurement) in a social and digital context.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and produce digital collateral for marketing and sales, including original campaigns, EDM, Websites, applications, social, digital and motion graphics.
  • Conceptualize and produce storyboards to provide clear and concise direction for animation.
  • Produce motion graphics to exacting detail provided by a brief and/or storyboard
  • Formulate forward-thinking concepts and render designs for digital media and solutions while always elevating our brands.
  • Identify fresh and innovative design solutions that push the boundaries of the brand and explore more effective formats and/or media channels
  • Provide original and effective visual solutions by leading the execution of creative requests and creative projects.
  • Provide creative input for digital/social projects both internally and externally.
  • Sketch and wireframe digital experiences.
  • Create user flows, sitemaps and other communication artifacts.
  • Develop simple interactive prototypes.
  • Communicate and articulate design rationales.
  • Work closely with developers to build functional prototypes quickly, thus a strong knowledge of how design and technology work together is a must.
  • Supports Head of Design and Experience, Brand Design Team and local Marketing team on the Development of Multi-Regional Brands, Regional Brands & Local Brands and NGP category with:
  • Designing consumer preferred digital creative work across an experience journey
  • Designing brand Design ambition and vision on all digital aspects of the marketing mix
  • Designing brand elements across all digital touchpoints and moments that matter.
  • Designing to the Brand Worlds for creative quality and consistency.
