Position Overview

This role willreport directly to the cluster head for UK and Ireland and plays acritical role in effectively managing the cluster daily. The Chief ofStaff (CoS) will offer strategic insights to the cluster head,facilitate communication with key cluster and group stakeholders andwill spearhead certain special projects of import to the cluster andglobally.

The CoS will act as the central coordinator for thecluster, providing management support to the country heads, providethem with assistance in strategic execution and driving results. TheCoS will also support strategic global initiatives across the cluster,foster collaboration and alignment between the countries, andfacilitate improved organizational performance.

In addition,the role will be the conduit for governance information across thecluster. The role will act as a key influencer and thought partnerensuring the cluster head is well prepared for all regulatory, boardand external stakeholder meetings. Part of the role will be focused onproviding adequate challenge providing a contrasting perspective whenneeded.

Responsibilities :

The role isresponsible to the cluster head for UK and Ireland to drive theexecution of the cluster strategy and growth plans across all productsand geographies; plus support the governance and oversight of thecluster.

At a high level, this includes:

  • Align thestrategic plan for the cluster with the overall Investment Services,and Chief Commercial Office objectives and priorities, and monitoractionable items.
  • Coordinate projects/initiatives andcommitments directly involving the cluster head and their keypriorities.
  • Assist the head of client relationship andclient service transformation in driving execution within the program,plus independently own, lead or track special projects for thecluster.
  • Elevate issues/challenges that could potentiallyimpact the execution of business strategy and/or key segment orcluster initiatives.
  • Attend executive meetings tocontribute to the tactical priorities of the business. Provide followup as needed ensuring all cluster requirements are completed.
  • Facilitate shared understanding of cluster strategy & prioritiesacross key stakeholders and enabling functions.
  • Drivedevelopment and production of appropriate leadership OKRs.

Governance:

  • Cluster strategy delivery – workclosely with global and cluster senior executives to execute strategicinitiatives in line with, or to exceed, the annual plan.
  • Act as representative / proxy for the cluster head at necessarymeetings/ committees.
  • Act as the cluster head’s deputy inproviding input into cluster/globally enhancing transversalinitiatives.

Communication:

  • Create,manage and provide appropriate preparation material for all clusterhead internal & external speaking engagements, including personalbriefing notes.
  • Act as focal point for cluster sponsorship(internal/external) events.
  • Partner with the clusterleadership team to identify and drive a cluster employee engagementagenda.
  • Serve as key member of the cluster leadership team;build strong relationships across the cluster leadership team andtheir leadership teams to drive an array of strategy executionefforts.

Managerial

  • Demonstrate the‘Risk Excellence’ culture by establishing the tone at the top, throughpersonal accountability and ownership, education and awareness andreinforcing mechanisms.
  • Maintain a detailed understandingof:The scope of the role’s managerial responsibilities; andThecompetence of the staff reporting to the role.
  • Ensure thatthe team report/s have clear understanding of their reporting lines,authority levels, scope of responsibilities (including those delegatedto them and those they delegate), objectives, training and competencyrequirements, that progress is reviewed regularly in line with Companypolicy, and that staff are regulatory registered where appropriate fortheir role.
  • Establish and nurture a culture of individualownership of tasks to embed a clear individual sense of accountabilityinto staff members’ behaviour in performing their roles.
  • Ensure that the highest level of the Code of Conduct is displayed inyour own and staff behaviour.
  • Establish and monitor systemsof control, delegated authority and escalation procedures so that thebusiness complies with internal policies and external regulations canbe managed effectively.
  • Adhere to the delegation andoversight (management information and escalation) framework in theperformance of daily tasks. This includes taking proactive action toensure there is adequate production of management information that isfits for purpose, and issues are raised as appropriate.
  • Establish and monitor an effective delegation framework to ensure thattasks are performed by staff members with appropriate capacity andauthority level (based on knowledge, skills and competence).
  • Establish and monitor an effectiveoversight framework to ensure that issues are appropriatelyidentified, escalated and resolved. This includes:

    ensuring thatappropriate management information is received, considered andchallenged as appropriate at intervals proportionate to the risks; and

    that staff members have clear understanding of the escalationpath/principles.

  • Experience as a CoS will be highly preferred
