Role: Operational Data Manager Location: Wilmslow (Hybrid) We are Citation. We are far from your average service provider. Our colleagues bring their brilliant selves to work every day and we create an environment where they can shine. We have been proudly delivering valuable HR and Health and Safety services to SMEs across the UK for over 20 years. Passionate about service, we're on a mission to revolutionise our colleague and client experience by employing brilliant people who are experts at what they do and smile whilst they are doing it. As we continue our exciting international growth journey, we're looking for a highly organised, strategic, and technically strong Operational Data Manager to lead our data operations and ensure the business continues to make smart, data-driven decisions. The Role As Operational Data Manager, you'll own the creation, improvement, and automation of data processes from start to finish — making sure data is clean, connected, and driving smart business decisions. You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders and technical teams, translating requirements into scalable, efficient solutions that make our operations faster, smarter, and more data-driven. Key Responsibilities: Design, document, and manage end-to-end data processes that support business operations. Collaborate with stakeholders to define outcomes, working backwards to create the data flows and automations that deliver results. Work closely with Data Engineers, BI, and Data Science teams to align data pipelines, reporting, and analysis. Own and improve CRM integrations and data flows across platforms such as Salesforce, Pipedrive, HubSpot, and Mailchimp. Automate manual BAU processes using tools like Databricks and GitHub. Maintain data quality, governance, and access controls in line with business needs and compliance. Use SQL, Excel, and Tableau to extract, analyse, and report on key data insights. Manage and monitor work via Jira or equivalent planning tools, ensuring visibility of data tasks and timelines. Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and insight generation. Lead and mentor junior team members. About You Proven experience managing or leading data operations or analytics teams. Excellent knowledge of SQL, Excel, and at least one CRM or marketing platform. Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and automation tools (e.g. Hightouch). Strong organisational and process design skills — you love clean, logical workflows. Great communicator, comfortable simplifying technical topics for stakeholders. Equally confident working with technical peers in engineering and data science. Curious, proactive, and always looking to improve how things are done. A "completer-finisher" who takes ownership and delivers high-quality outcomes. Experience using Jira or similar task management tools. Awareness of how AI can be used to support smarter, faster data decisions. Why join us? If you're looking for your first step into the world of data, love diving into detail, and enjoy solving problems behind the scenes – this could be the perfect role for you As our new Operational Data Manager, you'll join a dynamic, supportive team that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning. In this role, you'll help power smarter decisions across the business by supporting data selection, analysis, and campaign reporting. In return, you'll get full training, hands-on experience, and access to amazing benefits as part of the Citation Group. Whether you're just starting your career or switching paths into the world of data, this is a brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real impact.
