Principal Ecologist

Our client is a leading Tier 1 civil engineering company dedicated to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across a diverse range of projects. With a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Ecologist to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the ecological aspects of our projects.

Job Overview:

As a Principal Ecologist, you will lead and manage ecological assessments, impact assessments, and mitigation planning for our projects across the South of England. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that our projects adhere to the highest environmental standards. The role involves working closely with clients, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders to achieve ecologically responsible project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct ecological surveys, assessments, and impact studies.

Develop and implement ecological mitigation and enhancement strategies.

Provide ecological expertise and guidance to project teams.

Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders on ecological matters.

Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and industry best practices.

Mentor and support junior ecological team members.

Contribute to the development of company-wide environmental policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Significant experience in ecological consultancy, preferably within the civil engineering sector.

Strong knowledge of UK ecology, legislation, and regulatory frameworks.

Proven project management experience, including budget and resource management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
