The Infection Science Department at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and clinical services for two acute Hospitals, local GUM clinics and a wide range of community based health providers.


We also provide laboratory services to GPs and wider service users in the surrounding area. Applicants will be expected to have significant bacteriology experience preferably in an NHS Lab for the Band 6 role.


Applicants will be considered for a Band 5 trainee position with bacteriology and/or virology, serology or molecular microbiology experience. For the Band 5 post applicants must have a HCPC accredited Biomedical Science degree or be working towards completion of the IBMS registration portfolio.

Biomedical Science Degree
IBMS post-graduate Specialist Diploma
Experience of Pathology IT systems

Experience working in a busy laboratory

Knowledge of Laboratory Health & Safety regulations and governing bodies
Ability to work to SOPs, review and contribute to their implementation
