You'll be joining a high-performing, cross-functional team made up of native iOS and Android Engineers and Mobile Release Engineers.

The Infra & Tools team is part of our Mobile Platform Group, which is core to enabling the success of Bumble, Badoo, and BFF Apps. They raise the bar for our mobile engineering teams by providing expertise, sharing experiences, and spotting opportunities to coordinate cross-platform priorities in a centralised way.

The Engineering Manager in Bumble is a leadership role, focused on delivery, execution and engineering culture.

What you'll do:

  • Take accountability for the health of the delivery pipeline & team's key metrics. Ensure there is a good level of monitoring and alerting in place that preserves the health of our systems, and the reliability of the delivery pipeline. Drive improvements on those metrics.
  • Lead the initiative of making iOS & Android releases faster & safer. Ensure the team maintains a high standard of quality while delivering on the Objectives.
  • Drive evolution of tooling & infrastructure.
  • Ensure our technological and architectural choices are appropriate for the demands of our applications and customers, and are aligned with the broader tech strategy within engineering. Make sure customers & stakeholders are involved in the decision-making.
  • Actively engage in, and maintain a deep understanding of mobile engineering priorities/tech strategy.
  • Provide clarity of team priorities and motivations behind them. Adapt to changing priorities and ensure the team is always clear on why.
  • Develop cadence and strong ways of partnering with mobile development teams.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners and stakeholders to achieve team priorities.
  • Continuously improve the Infra & Tools team offering by maintaining a robust feedback loop with the mobile engineers.
  • Create tangible goals for your teams linking those to the overall business and engineering vision.
  • Create clear delivery plans and share these with relevant stakeholders. Stick to your delivery commitments and provide good visibility on the results, impact & outcomes.
  • Identify inefficiencies, blockers and dependencies and push for resolutions (both short- and long-term).
  • Employ measures to understand the team's performance and inform areas of improvement (e.g velocity, lead time, planned vs actual, team happiness).
  • Have succession plans for your team to identify key individuals and ensure you don't have Single Points of Failure.
  • Be responsible for the team health and growth of our engineers: ensure they have clear guidance on what is expected of them, understand how they are performing against that expectation & what the areas for improvement are, understand their career path.
  • Be an ambassador of Bumble Inc. culture and values, who sets the standards by example.

About you:

  • You are obsessed with making product engineering teams as effective and successful in delivering value as possible.
  • Have an experience in managing engineers of at least 3 years.
  • Have an experience of leading/working in a Mobile Platform team.
  • A strong technical leader who can see the big picture and steward their team in the shaping of all development and execution aspects: service design, technical footprint, delivery lifecycle best practices, operational health.
  • You can consider both strategic and tactical demands and make sure both are addressed. It requires someone who can challenge, ask the right questions, and empower their team to come up with the answers.
  • You have strong soft skills, you are collaborative & proactive, and you are a team player.
  • You are excited about change.
