Legal Counsel / Solicitor - In-House Commutable from: Manchester, Rochdale, Bolton, Warrington, Stockport & Oldham. Location: (M27, Manchester) Hybrid - negotiable Full time / Permanent Salary: depending on relevant experience Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Legal Counsel (Solicitor) to ensure the safeguarding and protection of all global legal aspects of their business interests. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing brand registrations, handling trademark infringements, legalising documents, and supporting various departments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Legal Counsel / Solicitor - In-House Key Responsibilities: Global Brand Registrations: Manage and renew a portfolio of approximately 20 brand registrations across the UK, EU, Middle East, and LATAM. Handle oppositions and apply for global trademark watches. Process new applications in a timely manner, preferably directly with the trademark office in each country. Trademark Infringement: Collaborate with NPD and Design teams to prevent the company from infringing on existing trademarks and brand designs. Address and halt infringing brands and designs from competitors, potentially working with councils and authorities in other countries. Legal Documentation: Complete and manage all legal documentation, including Power of Attorney, Letters of Authorisation, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Free Sale, and Exclusivity Agreements. Review incoming customer terms and contracts. Coordinate with various departments to align with customer T&Cs. Occasionally review and update Terms and Conditions (both long and short). Technical Coordination: Work with the Technical department to ensure formulation registrations are managed in conjunction with brand registrations. Contracts and HR Compliance: Draft and review customer and supplier contracts, T&Cs, and exclusivity contracts. Collaborate with the HR department to ensure new employee legislation is effectively implemented and address any HR issues as needed. Global Brand Registrations: Maintain and renew the brand portfolio Ensure all trademark applications and oppositions are handled efficiently and globally monitored. Trademark Infringements: Prevent infringement of the company's trademarks and designs. Take swift action against infringing competitors, potentially involving international legal collaboration. Legal Documentation Management: Ensure all legal documentation is complete and up-to-date. Review and align customer terms and contracts across departments. Technical Department Collaboration: Ensure synergy between formulation and brand registrations for compliance and protection. Legal Counsel / Solicitor - In-House Qualifications: Qualified solicitor with 2+ years post-qualification experience. In-house or practice experience. 2+ years' experience in Intellectual Property and trademarks. Proven experience in managing global brand registrations and handling trademark infringements. Strong knowledge of legal documentation processes. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and manage diverse legal tasks. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
