Job Description:

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to join the team located in one of our largest financial services clients in the City of London. The role is primarily to work alongside the EMEA H&S Manager in ensuring first-class health and safety performance for our client in the region. The EMEA H&S Advisor will carry out the day-to-day duties associated with the ongoing implementation and maintenance of the health and safety and environmental management systems. This includes ensuring the business is compliant with all applicable legal and other H&S requirements and driving a positive H&S culture.

Role Summary:

  1. Support the EMEA H&S Manager in the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the client's H&S management system.
  2. Lead on operational H&S management duties for the client.
  3. Deputise for the EMEA H&S Manager in providing the competent H&S person role.
  4. Monitor and respond to H&S queries from the business with competent technical advice and guidance.
  5. Coordinating, undertaking, and verifying risk assessments.
  6. Coordinate the development and delivery of H&S training.
  7. Review, interpret, and communicate legislative changes across EMEA when received from third-party compliance assurance vendor.
  8. Assist the H&S Administrator with the management of the third-party DSE Workstation training and assessment program.
  9. Monitoring and oversight of the client ePermit system, including a regular review of current ePermits and collaborating with the Facilities Management and Engineering teams to ensure they are reviewed, approved, and issued on time.
  10. Coordinate Facilities Management related emergency preparedness and response to the occupied sites including emergency drills, fire marshal, and first aider numbers, distribution and training.
  11. Administration of H&S management system documentation, procedures, records, and internal and corporate H&S reporting.
  12. Assist in the review, audit, and update of policies, procedures, and other H&S documentation in line with changes in the business and all new legislation or as a result of recommendations arising from an accident/investigation/audit.
  13. Assist as required in the collation of data and preparation of the monthly performance reports.
  14. Review and analyze results of third-party audits and assessments, and monitor completion of actions.
  15. Undertake accident reporting and investigation.
  16. Conduct H&S audits and inspections across the client sites in the region.
  17. Support the EMEA H&S Manager with CBRE QHSE responsibilities to the UK & Ireland account team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education: Minimum Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety Management, or any other qualification that meets the criteria for Graduate membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health

Experience: Understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental legal framework, Demonstrable practical application of auditing, Practical and demonstrable knowledge liaising with enforcement agency / insurers, Practical experience in risk, incident and investigation management, Event investigation and analysis including root cause analysis, Knowledge and management of training programs, Experience working in Financial Sector or Property and facilities environment (Desirable)

Aptitudes: Ability to translate academic abilities into a work setting, Numerate with a high degree of computer literacy, Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, Ability to find creative solutions to problems

Character: Prepared to proactively develop as a H&S professional, undertaking a program of training and continuing professional development, Willingness to regularly travel around the region, including overnight stays, Excellent internal and external customer service skills with good verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion, Strong attention to detail; good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations, Have a high level of energy, and deliver within high-pressure, business-critical environments from both a reactive and proactive basis.
