London, United Kingdom Microsoft Corporation Full time

Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide and we are looking for passionate engineers to help achieve that mission.
As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow, the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Cloud AI & Advanced Systems Engineering (CAASE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, and scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for engineers with a passion for customer focused solutions, insight, and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.
We are looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join the CAASE team. This Principal Hardware Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of custom and differentiating hardware acceleration solutions for Azure. This candidate will collaborate with both internal Microsoft teams and external partners to investigate opportunities to use custom silicon and programmable hardware FPGAs to customize cloud-scale solutions for strategic applications. The candidate will drive the co-development of hardware and software and develop roadmaps, taking lessons learned on FPGAs and refining them into increasingly customized solutions on ASIC and FPGA. The candidate will also drive business considerations including Total Cost of Operation and Return on Investment for various solutions, and drive consensus on sustainable acceleration strategies across teams.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
