Based in Manchester we are currently recruiting for an Electrical Installation Design Engineer on a fixed term basis to join our developing projects team. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design relocation of several electrical installations between South Coast sites (x2) and Scotland North Glasgow region.

Interviews will be scheduled to take place in January with a view to start in 1 st April 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To attend site and assess electrical requirements of multiple electrical assets within several areas of the current installation.
  • Review layouts and design of new location and determine power requirements and electrical installation routing.
  • To review layouts on site at the new installation
  • Provide handovers of electrical installation designs to the installation team on site.
  • To use current standards (BS 7671 18 th edition) to produce cable schedules and cable routing layouts for the new site using an electrical design package.
  • Determine calculations for cable sizing and derating factors as well as cable management and bend radius calculations.
  • Specify all related to electrical design components within the project.
  • Liaise and communicate with Sub-Contractors or Suppliers to ensure the services and supplied components meet with the requirements of the project.
  • Attend project and progress reviews to identify pertinent issues and required actions.
  • Provide a technical level of supervision to the installation staff engaged in the build.
  • Work within the budgetary and programme requirements of the project.
  • Achieve the technical & commercial objectives of the contract, including budget and delivery targets.

Key Requirements

  • Higher education in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or relevant experience.
  • 5 years + experience of working on electrical systems or design.
  • BS 7671 (18th Edition) for electrical installations.
  • Knowledge of low voltage 3 phase systems.
  • Effective communication with all internal stakeholders and external customers and suppliers.
  • Experience of electrical installations, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Full driver’s license
  • Ability to achieve UK security clearance is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the client contract, candidates must be a UK national, no dual nationality will be permitted
  • Be willing to work at customer sites within the UK and overseas.
