The Coordinator of Community Engagement is a member of the Community Engagement and Access team, within the division of Learning & Engagement. This position will help strengthen relationships with local artists, community members, and organizations through the development and stewardship of programming and arts education. Additionally, the Coordinator performs key administrative and logistical planning, including communicating with program information with internal colleagues and the public, program development and recordkeeping. The Coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Community Engagement & Access and work closely with the Coordinator of Accessible Programs. In addition to engaging with Community Engagement and Access staff and audiences, the Coordinator works with staff across the Division of Learning & Engagement and the museum and attends cross-institutional meetings to represent the work and needs of Community Programs.

Specifically, you will:
  • Design and implement thoughtful programs in collaboration with community partners to bring arts experiences to local communities and to connect communities to museum activities and resources.
  • Oversee teaching artists; working collaboratively to create innovative opportunities for intergenerational participants to learn about art within the museum and in neighboring communities.
  • Develop creative and engaging art projects for intergenerational audiences
  • Set program outcome goals, track and report program stats and highlights
  • Track grant-related spending and provide information for funder reports
  • Take part in cross-institutional planning and brainstorming meetings related to programs around exhibitions and collection
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Your background and experience include:

  • Outstanding skills in deep listening and interpersonal communication
  • Experience and comfort facilitating conversations and workshops
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze complex problems, and proactively to develop creative solutions
  • Computer skills including facility with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel, Google Docs, and social media platforms
  • Knowledge of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods, cultural landscape and community/cultural stewards and leaders
  • Experience building long-term relationships between organizations
  • Strong research and organizational skills, as well as ability to multitask
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Fluency in a language(s) other than English is a plus
Position and Compensation Details
  • The SALARY for this position is $48,000.
  • This position is FULL-TIME, EXEMPT, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
  • This position reports tothe Associate Director, Community Engagement and Access.
Physical requirements:
  • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
  • Periodically move throughout museum departments
  • Frequent use of multiple technical equipment and applications
  • Ability to lead groups throughout the museum’s galleries
  • Ability to move 50 pounds and lift 25 poundsCOVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting required.
