The Charters Project Manager post will join the University's specialist ED&I team, which sits in the Human Resources Division. The team is responsible for designing and delivering an ambitious programme of institutional and cultural change at the University. The team is forward-looking and committed to creating effective equality solutions. The Project Manager will work with the Head of ED&I and the University's leadership, alongside academic and other professional services colleagues, taking the lead in drafting the Institutional renewal applications for the Athena SWAN and Race Equality awards.

The Role:

We are looking to appoint an inspiring individual, who share our values and sense of purpose and who will help us to shape the future of the University of Cambridge. The role holder will compile, co-ordinate and manage the project plan for the renewal reapplication process for the University's Bronze Race Equality and Silver Athena Swan institutional awards.

This will include supporting the development of the renewal application content and action plan, including contributing to the drafting of the application documents. The role holder will also support, identifying delivery strategies for specific actions, monitoring progress against the current plans and undertaking future Action Planning. The role holder will work closely with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Project Team, specifically with the ED&I Consultants for ED&I Qualitative Researcher and the ED&I Data Analyst to support the University's reapplications for the Silver Athena SWAN institutional award and Bronze Race Equality Charter institutional award, and other colleagues in the HR Division to progress race equality, diversity and inclusion for other protected characteristics.

About you:

The successful candidate is expected to gain a full and detailed understanding of the Charter Mark application requirements and through good project management methodologies manage and ensure the university's charter application processes. The role holder will be expected to drive progress of the completion of the submissions by building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the University.

They will also proactively contribute to the effective outcomes of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Project Team and University committees by providing executive support including being a first point of contact for enquiries in relation to Athena Swan and REC charters and submissions, attending relevant meetings, preparing agendas and papers, diary management and note taking where required.

They will work with the ED&I Consultants and ED&I Data Analyst to ensure that processes are in place to meet application deadlines and the timely submission of reports and other documentation. The role holder will also be expected to have a good understanding of existing and new legislation and best practice in ED&I. An ability to understand sensitivities related to the ED&I agenda and devise ways to increase engagement is also a key requirement.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until the 28th February 2026, due to being a specific project of finite duration
