Quality Control Manager working with furniture (hands on role)
£Work hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with the possibility of occasional remote work after completing your initial three months of training, located near Swindon.
Acorn by Synergie are seeking individuals with expertise in the furniture industry, particularly those who have dealt with the quality aspects of assembling self-build flat packs for their client. Your role would involve thoroughly inspecting and ensuring the quality of various aspects of the assembly process.
You will be working on the largest retail account, handling quality issues that you cant always see, so viewing these from afar via teams etc might need to happen, you need to be organised and capable of managing many quality issues at once.
You need to ensure you can read and interpret technical design packages and manufacturing details to allow full and accurate quality control inspection to be carried out, as at times You will be working in the warehouse putting together some fixtures (furniture, mannequins etc.) Training is exceptional as you will be trained and supported by other internals currently working to support the accounts and the successful person will get to develop further within the company, so the potential is so great for progression.
This includes any legal and statutory regulation compliance.
To develop and maintain current quality control standards and actively improve these.
To act as the first point of contact for quality issues for the company supply and manufacturing base and actively improve the supplier and manufacturing standards without incurring any increase in product or material cost.
Actively maintain and build supplier relations to increase product quality.
To conduct quality control checks in line with the company standards for any product and/ or material required.
To be a conduit between third-party QC agencies and Far East supply base to ensure a clear path of communication and resolution to all QC issues.
To monitor and advise on the performance of the quality control system and develop this accordingly.
To liaise with any internal department to execute the quality control process. Ensure that all product checks exercise full and detail quality control inspection covering all aspects of the quality control process. To accurately record these in the quality control format for future reference.
To have key involvement with our supply and manufacturing base and attend manufacturing facilities when required to carry out quality control inspections.
To carry out inspections within a timely fashion, without affecting prototyping or production time.
To fully support the Design managers in the interest of quality control.
To act as conduit for communication between supplier / manufacturers and internal teams to determine product and material quality.
Devising and furthering the established quality control procedures, standards and specifications.
Working closely with the design team and purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from suppliers and/ or manufacturers.
Setting standards for quality as well as considering health and safety in all instances.
Determining specific areas of improvement in both reducing product waste (material and time) and increasing manufacturing efficiency
Define quality procedures around all product ranges and with internal departments (Sales, design and procurement).
Establishing and maintaining controls and document procedures in the function of quality control
Using relevant tools to establish and identify a clear and unbiased view of product and manufacturing quality.
Advocate for cost benefits and consequences within communication that demonstrates to others the importance of risk assessment, prevention and corrective action.
Maintaining an accurate quality control report system, documenting and recording all QC checks in both UK, Europe and Far East Supply.
Provide and maintain a weekly tracking document for quality controlled product. This will detail what quality controls inspections have been carried out, a summary of the results, pass/ fail rates and details of the supplier/ manufacturer responsible. This will include all labour and transport costs incurred and also a charge for QC work undertaken that we will expect the split to pay. 5 GCSE grades A/B or O Levels, including English and Maths
Extensive familiarity with Microsoft packages
Strong experience in quality control role / inspections and quality reporting
Ability to read and interpret technical design packages and manufacturing details to allow full and accurate quality control inspections to be carried out.
