Principle Purpose:

  • To work autonomously as a member of the multi-professional team supporting patients in the Short Stay Hub Care Home beds for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
  • To provide an Physiotherapy (PT) service to Short Stay Hub bed patients underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.
  • To provide PT in the acute hospital setting as required by the Short Stay Hub Matron
  • To support Therapy Assistants to manage the rehabilitation and reablement of patients.
  • To plan and prioritise own caseload.
  • To assist the Short Stay Hub Matron in providing leadership, guidance, supervision and development for junior staff, unregistered staff and students.
  • To provide appropriate and timely specific Occupational Therapy reports and other patient related correspondence according to the quality standards of the service and COT Professional Standards.
  • To develop clinically related administrative duties relevant to the operation of the department.
  • To be able to function in a multidisciplinary team identifying unique skills of Occupational Therapists.
  • To work closely with associated specialities within the hospital and community.
  • To participate in training and academic workshops within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To develop research projects and audits to ensure evidence based practice within the Therapy service.

Main duties of the job

Planning and Organisational Skills

  • To be responsible for effective time management, able to take responsibility for own workload and monitor the workload of staff, delegating tasks accordingly.
  • Work with other therapists across the Trust and National Specialist Interest Groups to support speciality groups.
  • To plan and deliver in-service training, study days etc.
  • Be a link person, as designated by the professional lead, for activities such as student placements for the site, specialist interest group, etc.
