We are excited to be advertising a new Band 6 post to work in the Critical Care Outreach Team based at York Teaching Hospital, with occasional cross site cover. Our team deliver a high standard of individualised care to deteriorating and acutely ill patients throughout the hospital 24 hours a day, working closely with the Intensive Care Team and associated multi-disciplinary teams.


To enhance this delivery of care, we co-ordinate bleep filtering both at nights and weekends. This is integral to the Band 6 CCOT posts. Applicants should be highly motivated and able to demonstrate leadership and advanced communication skills. Induction and ongoing training will be provided to ensure competency and safety. Deliver and maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust guidelines and policies.
Have knowledge of pathophysiology, anatomy and physiology in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment of the deteriorating adult.
Demonstrate clinical competence and confidence in caring for thedeteriorating/acutely ill adult, utilising critical care skills and knowledge in a variety of clinical settings without supervision as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Provide rapid response and support for patients identified by the National Early Warning Score (NEWS).
Participate in providing direct patient care and support at the bedside until the patient is stabilised or transferred to an area with a higher level of care.
Accurately request pathology investigations and participate in clinical decisions based upon results

Registered Nurse (Level 1)
At least 3 years post registration acute care nursing experience
Ability to co-ordinate care with all members of MDT
Critical Care experience and evidence of achievement of Step One Critical Care Competencies


Evidence of specialist knowledge in the management of the deteriorating adult patient
