Job Description

CCL Global are currently recruiting for a Design Manager. The successful applicant will be responsible for construction support duties in for the HS2 Project.

  1. Construction support consists of;
  2. Responding to TQ’s / RFI’s / EWN’s
  3. Reviewing of Temporary Works designs for integration with the permanent works design
  4. Reviewing and acceptance of permanent works materials
  5. Reviewing of fabrication details for integration with the permanent works
  6. Producing as-built records and details
  7. Contributing to Quarterly Reports and participating in Quarterly Reviews with project partners.

Location: Aylesbury.

Type of Contract: IR5 Contract

Job Purpose:

  1. Establishing a team to deliver the services which will consist of site-based representatives as well as office based support
  2. Monitoring and supporting the Site Support Team to ensure that project partners are receiving the contracted-for services
  3. Maintaining consistency across all teams
  4. Liaising with the Construction Services Manager the resource requirements to align with construction activities
  5. Meeting budget, timeframe and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations
  6. Promoting and marketing all facets of the business services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan, and building networks within the industry
  7. Providing safety leadership within the organisation

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervising and leadership of the above-mentioned staff
  • Responding to inquiries of the contractor, e.g., TQ’s, RFI’s, etc.
  • Reviewing of Temporary Works designs
  • Reviewing and approving construction materials
  • Reviewing of fabrication details, shop drawings
  • Reporting of results, preparing reports
  • Producing As-built Drawings
  • Contributing to the Quarterly Reports as required by the Contract Scope
  • Providing safety leadership for the teams

Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng or MSc/Meng
  • 10 years’ experience including the development and implementation of solutions, preferably on rail projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the English language, both speaking and writing
  • Leadership and team-building skills
  • People management and motivation experience
  • Coaching and supporting
  • Decision-making and providing clear direction
  • Ability to influence at Site Support level
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments
