Senior Claims Executive

Steamship Mutual is a P&I insurance company, with 210 employees worldwide. The head office is based near Liverpool Street station, London. Responsibility to provide P&I and FDD (Freight, Demurrage and Defence) claims handling service and advice. The role is based within the Americas Syndicate with a team that looks after Members headquartered in Latin and South America but with business interests worldwide.
To promote the relationship between the Club and existing Members for which the Claims team is responsible.
To handle assigned claims in accordance with company procedures, provide advice on claims related issues and identify the need for loss prevention activity.
Working with a high degree of independence, taking ownership and responsibility for your caseload, but seeking advice and supportive guidance from your Syndicate Manager or Claims Directors as appropriate.
To promote the relationship between the Club and existing Members for which the claims team is responsible.
To ensure that all electronic correspondence, whether received or sent, relating to claim files assigned to the particular individual is promptly and correctly filed in accordance with the agreed working practices and to maintain and keep updated such e:files.
To contribute to the continuous development of company procedures and systems.
To produce relevant articles for inclusion in Club publications.
To attend appropriate training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
To perform any other ad hoc duties as required.
Previous experience handling shipping litigation and dispute resolution, from either another P&I club, insurer, law firm, ship owner or ship agent.
Ability to deliver high quality work within agreed timeframes to and prioritise individual workload.
