Job Title: Business Analyst - Oil and Gas Commodity Trading

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in oil and gas commodity trading. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the energy markets, commodity trading processes, and the ability to analyze complex data to drive informed business decisions. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and IT professionals to enhance trading strategies, optimize processes, and contribute to the overall success of our commodities trading business. Responsibilities: Market Analysis:- Conduct comprehensive analysis of global energy, oil and gas markets to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Provide regular updates and insights on market conditions, pricing, and regulatory changes that may impact commodity trading.
- Analyse large datasets related to commodity trading activities, including pricing, supply and demand, and market trends.
- Utilize statistical models and data visualization tools to extract meaningful insights for decision-making.
- Evaluate and optimize existing trading processes to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and improve overall performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement streamlined solutions.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to market volatility and external factors.
- Work closely with risk management teams to assess and monitor risks associated with commodity trading activities.
- Collaborate with traders, finance professionals, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure alignment with trading strategies.
- Act as a liaison between business and IT teams, translating business needs into technical requirements.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes in the oil and gas industry and ensure that trading activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to implement and enforce compliance measures.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA) is a plus.
- Proven experience (X+ years) as a Business Analyst in the energy, oil and gas industry, with a focus on commodity trading.
- In-depth knowledge of energy markets, trading processes, and risk management.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks governing commodity trading in the energy, oil and gas sector.
