Brian Jackson College are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team, working across both sites.
As part of the college leadership team your role will be to:
Support the Head Teacher to determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision across both Huddersfield and Heckmondwike colleges.
Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and coordination of specific provision to support individuals with SEN or disability.
This is a great opportunity for an aspiring/experienced SENCO who wants to develop creative learning opportunities for children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure, working with individual and small groups of pupils in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected, and involved in as many decisions as possible. Already experienced in an SEN environment, you will be forward thinking, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, be motivated by supporting families and helping every child to reach their potential.
Reporting to the Head Teacher, and Deputy Heads, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate SEN pupil records, the school SEN provision map and SEN Policy as well as the management of the provision for pupils with SEND, particularly for those who have EHC Plans. Duties will include allocating dedicated and targeted support, using the graduated approach for pupils, creating, and collating relevant PEP paperwork, leading and/or contributing to PEP meetings with wider professionals, contributing to EHC plans and creating and overseeing targeted support.
– The successful candidate will have a relevant SEN coordination qualification and previous experience in delivering specific interventions both 1:1 and in small groups.
– Experience in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges is essential.
