UHDB Pharmacy Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 senior pharmacy Technician to work within the Finance and Information team.

The post holder will work within the ever-evolving area of the pharmacy department. Key deliverables include supporting the electronic prescribing Pharmacists, Chief Technicians, and the wider project team in the transition between electronic prescribing systems as part of the NHS England digital paper-lite agenda.

They will also be responsible for general Pharmacy IT system amendments, support with stock control, support end user training and deputise for the Chief Technician where appropriate.

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual that possesses effective communication skills, and has a keen interest in IT. The successful candidate will have all round Pharmacy experience, hold an NVQ Level 3 or BTec in Pharmaceutical sciences, or is due to qualify as a Pharmacy Technicianin 2024 and has current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), or is due to register by September 2024. Full training and support on all systems used will be provided.

Trainee Pharmacy Technicians qualifying in 2024 are welcome to apply for the post.

We will support the successful candidate to maintain competencies and CPD. In addition, support and training will also be offered to gain any additional qualifications required for this role.

Main duties of the job

Assists in the management and maintenance of the Pharmacy Stock Control and Finance Computer System, Cancer prescribing system and the Trust New EPR system.

Assist with the management and maintenance of the Pharmacy and Trust automation systems including the dispensing robot and cabinets.

Assists in the management of the Pharmacy stock checking and reporting process.

Produce reports for Pharmacy Managers/Directorate Pharmacists detailing drug usage and expenditure.

The post offers opportunities for development, and experience working across UHDB sites. There will be a requirement to participate in weekend and bank holiday working on a rotational basis.

  • NVQ 3 or Equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science or due to qualify as a pharmacy Technician by September 2024
  • Registered with the GPhC as a register Pharmacy Technician or due to register in 2024.
  • Effective communication skills - ability to communicate with staff from all areas by all methods.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and have an eye for detail.

Desirable


  • Post qualification experience with some supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware and software applications with an emphasis on maintenance and training.
