As SHE Coordinator (Responsible Business) you will be joining one of Northern Ireland's largest Public Bodies, where you will support the Head of Safety and Corporate Responsibility, and coordinate several aspects of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), Systems and Performance, Health, and Safety (H&S) and Assurance to achieve continual improvement and consistency of approach to H&S and ESG standards. As SHE Coordinator your new role will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Promote and foster a strong, consistent, proactive responsible culture by developing tools and materials that improve ESG and safety behaviour.
  • Coordinate and develop carbon and wider ESG literacy and culture within the organisation, working with external partners to ensure the delivery of industry leading training.
  • Support the delivery of the SMS, to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and similar.
  • Responsible for the internal responsible business awards scheme (e.g. Spirit Facility Awards) and other employee engagement activities ensuring continual improvement.
  • Coordinate and continually improve the Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register, Safety Risk Register, Compliance Register and Materiality Assessment registers.
  • Develop, manage and continually improve the corporate responsibility register of initiatives.
  • Prepare submissions for benchmarking and awards, that enable the organisation to accurately benchmark its performance.
  • Coordinate the drug and alcohol programme and continually improve the management of the data and reporting of the service to provide assurance on the risk.
  • Coordinate the production of periodic reports on performance.
  • Work with the Systems and Performance Lead and team managers to develop meaningful lead and lag key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Contribute to the development of, and continually improve knowledge of, a dashboard, based on a KPI set, that informs the Head of Safety and CR of the ESG performance profile and accurately tracks progress towards targets.
  • Develop and maintain a document control process that achieves standardisation of documentation for the team and utilises modern techniques to ensure the effective and efficient control and distribution.
  • Develop process diagrams that reflect true business practice and can inform continual improvement.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of the annual SH&E conference.
  • Collaborate with managers and ambassadors and internal comms resources, across the organisation, to continually improve the gathering, recording and promotion of positive ESG performance.
  • Maintain the record management system for the Corporate SH&E department.
  • Coordinate and facilitate SHE meetings with the head of the department, preparing meeting packs, accurately recording minutes and proactively tracking the status of actions.
  • Assist and coordinate the Safety Tour programme, developing plans, metrics, reports and a dashboard.
To be considered for this SHE Coordinator role you will have:
  • Previous experience in a safety related role in a complex highly regulated environment.
  • A minimum of an HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification, in an environmental or safety related discipline.
  • Working understanding of environmental topics, including climate change, circular economy and biodiversity.
  • Experience making submissions for accreditations and awards, e.g., ISO certification, Business in the Community Environmental Benchmarking Award, etc.
  • Experience of planning and delivering employee engagement programmes and coordinating events.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills/interpersonal skills with people at various levels.
  • Able to develop relationships and influence internal stakeholders to deliver appropriate and cost-effective services.
  • Able to satisfy such medical standards as may apply to the post.
  • Willing to travel across NI to attend meetings and carry out site visits.
