Bristol, United Kingdom Emm Full time

Emm

Through revolutionary technology, research and specialist knowledge, Emm is on a mission to improve the everyday lives of those who menstruate. The team have created the first smart, reusable menstrual product with inbuilt biometric technology. The product not only provides a better period experience overall in terms of comfort, ease of insertion and reliability, it also provides users with personalised insight into the baseline metrics of their menstrual health.

The company is in a period of rapid growth prior to product launch, and we're looking to expand our dream team to help deliver our first consumer product to the world.

As a key player in our early stages, you'll have a huge opportunity to make a positive impact on the company, our products, and our mission. You'll be working on an exciting product roadmap with the chance to grow with the company as we expand.

The role

We are seeking a talented UX Designer who is passionate about shaping the future of menstrual and reproductive health. In this role, you will be at the frontier of the consumer experience and will be a key player in our early stages, bringing our flagship consumer product to market to address unique challenges faced by people who menstruate.

This role is all about innovating quickly and focusing on how our users interact with our product from the very first touchpoint. You'll be involved in conceptualizing, designing, testing, and launching essential features that drive engagement and enhance the user journey.

Specifically, this role will require you to:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our customer’s pain points and needs.
  • Employ a variety of design techniques, from sketches and wireframes to full-fledged mock ups and interactive prototypes, ensuring a high-quality, consistent, and seamless experience across both digital and physical products.
  • Lead in user testing and usability studies to explore and validate ideas.
  • Emphasise user-centric design, ensuring that every feature not only meets business objectives but also resonates with our users.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, marketing, and community teams to create a unified product experience, ensuring quality assurance and maintaining visual consistency across all physical and digital assets.
  • Develop novel concepts from 0 to 1 in a greenfield, and improve existing features based on user feedback

The Candidate

For the role of UX Designer the ideal candidate will demonstrate experience or knowledge in the following areas:

  • 3-5 years of experience in UX and/or product design.
  • Delivering exceptional user experiences with IoT/connected products, specifically wearables and consumer app user experience and design.
  • User research, usability testing, and translating insights into actionable design solutions.
  • Proficiency in design tools and methodologies, including but not limited to Figma, wire framing, workflow diagramming, and prototyping.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex design concepts and utilizing a blend of qualitative insights and quantitative data to steer design decisions.
  • Autonomous work ethic, thriving in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing a range of app user flows, highlighting your direct contributions and measurable impacts and experience championing user needs while driving business growth.

Preferred

  • A curiosity and passion for the healthtech industry, translating into innovative design solutions that resonate with our target audience.
  • Knowledge / experience working on medical devices or a regulated environment is beneficial.
  • Experience in developing UI component libraries within Figma.
  • Experience in data visualization.

The right candidate will excel at their day job first and foremost, but the nature of Emm is that we support other teams and work when needed. It’s not expected you’ll be an expert in everything, but background experience and secondary skillsets are important to us, alongside an attitude to get stuck into whatever challenges arise.

The Benefits

Our UX role presents a fantastic opportunity to grow with the company in this exciting period as we launch our first flagship product.

A negotiable package including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual leave: 25 days + 3 days off at Christmas + Public holidays
  • Health / dental plan – inclusive contributions to life insurance, vision, therapy, medical and dental care
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Company pension
  • Share incentive scheme
  • Option for reduced hours on a pro-rated basis
  • Hybrid working available
