Homologation Engineer

Purpose of Post :
Wrightbus is a fast-moving company which has experienced considerable growth in the last year. As part of this continued growth, we are looking for an additional Vehicle and Systems Approval Engineer to join our Homologation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the approval of product(s) produced by the Company for both national and international markets, and for working with internal departments and external partners to obtain the necessary system and vehicles approvals. The role will also involve periodic assessments to demonstrate ongoing compliance to the technical requirements granted for all approved vehicles.
Key Tasks:
- Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for integrating the European approval process into the current Wrightbus vehicle approval process.
- Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for obtaining ECWVTA, NSSTA or IVA for specified Wrightbus products.
- Responsible, for the impact assessment of legislation and regulations associated with the design, manufacture and use of buses in any country in which the Company seek business opportunities.
- Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for obtaining approvals for any country in which the Company target vehicle placement.
- Responsible, in conjunction with the Homologation Department, for identifying the approvals required for associated Wrightbus products.
- Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for ensuring that New Product Developments and the associated materials used in the manufacture of these products are compliant to all associated EEC Directives and/or ECE/EU Regulations and/or any other associated standards.
- Responsible, in conjunction with the Sales departments, for appraisal of vehicle tenders and specifications, national and international, to ensure that each sales order has full suite of valid approvals permitting on-going compliance for associated Wrightbus products.
- Responsible for regular assessments of the requirements of EEC Directives and ECE/EU Regulations and for taking necessary actions with associated Wrightbus products to maintain compliance.
- Responsible for writing any procedures associated with the approval processes.
- Responsible, for completing, collating and submitting all documentation associated with approval submissions for associated Wrightbus products.
- Responsible for cataloguing approval documentation in a secure, organised, easy to access format.
- To liaise with necessary departments, internal or external, to help resolve any issues relevant to EEC Directives, ECE/EU Regulations and associated vehicle legislation.
- To liaise with the necessary departments, internal or external, to create an environment where vehicles successfully demonstrate compliance at the first attempt, including worst case scenario evaluations.
- Evaluation of Certificates of Conformity to ensure continued component/system compliance.
- Required, when necessary, to organise and attend tests with test teams to obtain formal approvals.
- Work with Quality department to ensure that CoP approval is maintained, at all times.
- Responsible for the on-going assessment and development of the Stage 6 Inspection process to meet the business need.
- Undertake relevant training associated with the effective operation of the post.

SpecificationEssential
Education Attainments- BTEC HNC or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
Job Experience
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in an Engineering Company in an Engineering Compliance or Quality based role.
Specialist Knowledge / Skills
- Practical use of 2D CAD systems
- Ability to understand technical drawings
- Computer literate with practical working knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Word
Desirable
- BTEC HND or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience in the bus industry.
- Practical use of 3D CAD Systems.
