Your role

Join our dynamic Product Development Team as an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer We're seeking a talented professional who thrives in an innovative environment. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for designing mechanical enclosures and assemblies, as well as managing projects for Original Equipment Manufacturer Custom Variant (OEMCV) products and product kits. If you are passionate about engineering and eager to contribute to cutting-edge projects, this is the perfect opportunity for you

Day to day activities include:

  • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Design activities in support of New Product Development
  • The creation of industrial designs for concept and aesthetic reviews
  • To design, prototype, develop and finalise new electronic packaging concepts
  • Creation of custom products for specific customers, with changes such as:-
  • Enclosure/boot colour changes
  • Enclosure branding (screen prints/labels etc)
  • Custom carry cases (foam layout and/or branding)
  • Custom kit contents
  • Project Management of OEMVC projects including:
  • Coordination with bespoke software features including alignment on deliverables & timeframes.
  • Requirement gathering, from Pico Business Development/Sales with the potential for some direct customer interaction
  • Supporting business case justifications with cost & time scale estimates
  • Provide feedback on feasibility and seeking further definition when required

What we're looking for

We are seeking a highly skilled and confident Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD systems, with a preference for SolidWorks experience
  • Extensive knowledge of materials, extrusions, casting techniques, plastics, cable harnesses, connector types, and related processing methods
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing constraints and design for manufacture
  • Proven industrial design experience

Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience in or a strong appreciation for managing small, multidisciplinary projects. They should be adept at liaising with both internal and external customers, capable of planning and estimating project timelines, and proficient in using planning tools such as Jira and Microsoft Project.
