Interim Commercial Finance Specialist

HW Interim Solutions are supporting a PE backed, Midlands based Retailer to engage a hands-on Interim Commercial Finance Professional on a 6 month contract.
Reporting directly into the CFO, you will have ownership of the forecasting and budgeting process, ensuring that commercials align with the company's strategic objectives, as well as business partnering the Buying and Retail teams to help drive profitability, sales and margin through financial analysis and a strong understanding of financial performance and opportunities.
You will support strategic decision making, as well as month end process through the delivery of insightful and high quality analytics and business information.
Retail experience, along with strong excel modelling skills is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the forecast and budget process, collaborating closely with the Financial Controller. Highlight commercial risks and opportunities for mitigation and growth.
- Ensure that forecasts align with the company's strategic objectives.
- Provide accurate and timely information to stakeholders, highlighting the financial implications of various decisions, especially on P&L and cash flow.
- Business partner and work closely with the Retail and Buying teams, providing financial analysis to drive sales, margins, and profitability.
- Develop accurate store profitability models to aid in decision-making and resource allocation.
- Create and manage internal information for benchmarking analysis to measure performance against industry standards or competitors.
- Take the lead role in evaluating key investment decisions, tracking return on investment, and providing insights for future strategies.
- Support the month-end process by delivering insightful analytics. Take ownership of commercial aspects like rebates, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Provide mentorship, training, and opportunities for growth. Encourage continuous learning in areas beneficial to their role and the company.
