We are looking for a qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated ACP to complement our established team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners in ED at Colchester Hospital. This exciting opportunity facilitates clinical training allowing you to achieve the four pillars of advanced practice: - education, clinical practice, leadership and research. The post involves working as part of an enthusiastic dedicated team, across all areas of the emergency department, to ensure patients presenting with undifferentiated and un-diagnosed medical conditions are at the forefront of service provision and receive prompt timely intervention.

There is an expectation the candidate if not already, will commence RCEM credentialing.

The successful candidate will be assigned to a nominated consultant for clinical support and supervision. The emergency consultants will also support you on a shift-to-shift basis when you are working in the clinical environment.

At Colchester ED we pride ourselves on our education program where you will attend weekly training alongside the medical team. Personal development time will be incorporated into your contracted hours working alongside a 24/7 shift pattern.

Main duties of the job

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) you will ideally be clinically experienced within the field of emergency medicine or equivalent. The post will require you to work as an autonomous practitioner to appropriately assess, examine, investigate and treat patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions at an advanced level. The ACP will collaborate with senior medical personnel and the wider MDT as appropriate to the patient's condition. The ACP is accountable for the total episode of care.

The ACP will contribute to service development. They will also providing appropriate leadership as required ensuring the maintenance of clinical excellence and support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. The ACP will promote and facilitate evidence-based practice, clinical audit and research within the department.

Qualifications

Essential


  • First level registered nurse/allied Health Professional currently working in a senior clinical role
  • MSc Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • ALS, ATLS provider
  • NMC approved mentor preparation course or equivalent.

Desirable


  • Evidence of research/audit
  • Level 1 Ultrasound Course

Experience

Essential


  • Proven post-registration experience in relevant clinical setting.
  • Substantial post registration experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of current best practice in relevant clinical area
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Supervision and appraisal of staff and students

Desirable


  • Clinical expertise relevant to the area of emergency medicine
  • Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/speciality

Knowledge and Skills

Essential


  • Knowledge of the current professional NHS issues contributing to Service Development
  • Documented evidence of completion of generic advanced practice competencies and a defined range of speciality competencies
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application.
  • Effective written and oral communication/listening skills
  • Computer literacy

Desirable


  • Leadership skills/worked at a senior level within a clinical area.
