An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 8a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Tri-borough Eating Disorder Team which is at Ealing CAMHS which is based at 1 Armstrong Way, Southall UB2 4SA.
The CAMHS Eating Disorder Service is part of the Tier 3 West London CAMH Service, which also includes an neuro-developmental team, adolescent team, learning disability team and child and family team. The Service also links to a comprehensive Tier 2 CAMH Service, CAMHS Crisis Prevention/Care Team (ALLIANCE). The post holder will be part of a growing team of clinicians with a special interest and expertise in working with children, and young people, who are presenting with complex mental health needs.
The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist will also join a thriving team of supportive, committed and skilled nurses who are dedicated to changing the future outcomes for children and young people who present to mental health services.
As a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide mental health assessment and specialist intervention for children, young people and families referred to the Service. You will also undertake risk assessments of children, young people and their families/carers and collaboratively develop, review and evaluate risk management plans. Additionally, will engage with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that the needs of young people with acute, complex, long-standing and/or severe mental health problems are appropriately assessed, contained, and treated.
As a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist you will also have the opportunity to deliver a range of psychotherapeutic interventions for children and young people and their families including running evidence-based therapeutic groups for children, young people and families.
You will also form part of the CAMHS Nursing Supervision Structure and will offer supervision and line management as appropriate to members of the nursing team

We are seeking a dynamic, ambitious, and motivated CAMH Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist who has experience working in CAMH Services and is looking to take the next step in their career pathway.
We are looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist who is able to demonstrate a commitment to creative engagement with a culturally diverse population of young people, shows initiative, is a team player and is able to communicate ideas clearly to both professionals and young people alike. Ability to demonstrate knowledge, competence and an interest in working with children who present with complex mental health needs is essential for the role. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will also need to be flexible and have the necessary skills and experience to provide high quality care that is both evidence based and client focussed.
Demonstrable post qualifying experience working within multidisciplinary CAMHS settings and evidence of accredited courses in child and adolescent mental health practice are essential criteria for this post.
Qualifications and Training
Degree/diploma in Nursing
Professional registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) RMN.
Evidence of accredited courses in child and adolescent mental health practice
MSC level training in a relevant specialist field or appropriate experience
Relevant management training/ qualification
Research training
CYP IAPT training
Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification
Demonstrable post qualifying experience of working within a multidisciplinary CAMHS.
Demonstrable experience working with children and young people with Neuro-developmental disorders
Experience of working in a number of ways i.e. assertive outreach, clinic based settings, home, school or other appropriate environments
Experience of assessing risk and formulating safe and effective risk management plans
Experience of managing and supervising others in a clinical and performance management context including appraisals
Experience of delivering mental health awareness and bespoke CAMHS training to non CAMHS professionals
Experience of delivering training to colleagues
Experience of management of child protection emergencies
Able to confidently and competently undertake generic and emergency CAMHS assessments
Understands developmental issues for children and able to adapt interventions accordingly
Understands the need for and able to competently assess risk
Understands individual and service safeguarding responsibilities, policy and procedure
Able to foster strong therapeutic alliances
Understanding of and commitment to service user involvement, patient led care and choice
Understands the need for and has experience of undertaking family and parenting work as part of CAMHS support
Experience of providing consultation and liaison support to colleagues, referral agencies and services responsible for the care, support and wellbeing of service users and their families/carers
Able to promote self-management and recovery by working with service users and their families to understand their condition and identify and reinforce strengths, resources and coping skills
Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, actively engaging in and supporting duty and emergency rotas, peer support, training and skills development
