London, United Kingdom West London NHS Trust Full time

The Ealing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service for Learning Disabilities (CAMHS LD) team is a small, expanding, well respected, supportive, hard-working team based at Carmelita House (London W5 2PJ), which is a multi-agency service that provides assessment and intervention for children and young people with disabilities and their families where there are concerns about emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties, including challenging behaviours, mental health difficulties and social/family difficulties. We have excellent links with our colleagues in Education, Health and Social Care and we work collaboratively and jointly for many of the clients under our care. The team believe strongly in the importance of accessible, equitable, high quality care for the children and young people of Ealing who have a Learning Disability.

Carmelita House is in a convenient central Ealing location, very close to many transport options, shops and green spaces. Ealing CAMHS-LD comes under the organisational management of Ealing CAMHS, which is a well-established multidisciplinary Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service which is based at 1 Armstrong Way, Southall, UB2 4SA.

You are welcome to apply for full time or part time hours.
As part of this role, the post holder will also offer clinical work in our intensive intervention service (The Intensive Therapeutic and Short Breaks Service, ITSBS), which aims to enable children with Learning Disability and challenging behaviour to remain in the community, preventing family placement breakdown and a move to residential care. This service is a collaboration between Clinical Psychology from Ealing CAMHS-LD team and Social Care for Children with Disabilities (based in ESCAN). It has been running for over 10 years with successful outcomes, and the Local Authority has allocated funding for the continuation of this work.

The successful applicant will form part of the Clinical Psychology Supervision Structure and will offer supervision and line management to more junior staff (where appropriate). As a Highly Specialist CAMH Clinical Psychologist you will have responsibility for supporting the development of junior staff and students.

The ITSBS is continuing to develop as a model in line with the Transforming Care Agenda and so will provide opportunities for the post-holder to significantly contribute to service development. The Clinical Psychologist will be expected to be able to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
