Trainee Printer
Contract: Full time, permanent. Shift patterns detailed below.

Our Flex division produces a range of flexible plastic films, with our site in Wigan manufacturing products for major food retailers and suppliers.
Trainee Printer - About the role:
You will be responsible for supporting the Lead Printer with operating a flexographic print machine whilst ensuring that print operations are conducted in a safe and controlled manner in line with the required standards and operating procedures.
Trainee Printer - Responsibilities:
• Help set up and operate print machinery to optimmum levels in a safe working manner, ensuring that the machinery and surrounding area are maintained in line with required health, safety, environmental, hygiene and housekeeping standards.
• Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Spot and report any non-conformities to the Lead Printer or Shift Manager and support resolution as required.
• Additional qualifications e.g. fire safety, first aid etc. Good level of literacy and numeracy, preferably GCSE level in English and Maths
• Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting also an advantage
• Fluent English - ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and understand both written and verbal work instructions
Print roles operate across the following shift patterns:
Printers operating the F&K machine, they will work a 12 hour shift pattern, spread over a rotating 2 week cycle. Week 1 = 4 day shifts followed by 3 off
Week 2 = 3 night shifts followed by 4 off
Shift patterns can be subject to change, dependant on business requirements.
You may in the future be required to work a 4 week Continental shift pattern:
Week 1 - 4 nights, 3 off
Week 2 - 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights
A reasonable level of fitness is required as the role involves some physical activity e.g. lifting & bending.
