Mechanical Design Engineer Job DescriptionOur client based in the Fareham area is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer, the company provide design and technical services for all areas of building services engineering. They work with end users, construction professionals, and installing contractors to provide engineering design solutions for new build construction projects, building refurbishment projects, condition and lifecycle plant replacement projects, and energy efficiency project.
They are associate consultants of the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), registered with Cyber Essentials for internet and data security and a business member of the Local Enterprise Partnership, while the Directors are members of:
- Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
- CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants
- CIBSE Heat Networks Consultants
- Institute of Healthcare Engineering & Estate Management (IHEEM)
What is the role?
Due to a rapidly growing work demand, they are looking for a Building Services Design Engineer to join their team to work on a variety of schemes across different market sectors both client side and for contractors as part of design and build contracts.
The Engineer will ideally be degree qualified, have some work experience in a design consultancy role, and should show a commitment to continued development and progression to being a Chartered Engineer.
The Engineer will be supporting the Senior Engineers to design mechanical services for new build, refurbishment, lifecycle replacement, and energy efficiency projects for both public and private sector clients. The Engineer will also take ownership for the design and delivery of smaller projects.
The design of mechanical services design will include:
- Site surveys and investigations
- Low temperature hot water heating systems
- Domestic hot and cold water services
- Mechanical and natural ventilation
- Refrigerant and chilled water cooling systems
- Low and zero carbon technologies
- Production of technical design drawings using AutoCAD
- Production of design specifications, performance specifications, equipment schedules, and technical submissions
- Design calculations using industry software packages
In addition, there will also be a requirement to undertake:
- Project management and contract administration
- Feasibility studies and technical investigations
The Engineer should demonstrate an attention to detail with a passion to deliver a high-quality service, be IT literate and skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. Competency with using AutoCAD and a full UK driving licence are essential.
