We’re looking for talented, motivated and skilled individuals to join our three-year Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship development programme which offers a wide range of opportunities for professional career development as a professional Engineer.

This three-year Apprenticeship allows you to develop your engineering skills, knowledge, and behaviour in a professional environment. We help you find your flair in the Engineering Profession through a robust and rewarding academic development programme that aims to provide apprentices with the foundation in engineering technical knowledge and skills, before progressing further into the apprenticeship programme. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, we’ll also help you to become professionally registered at an Engineering Technicians (Eng Tech) status that is recognised internationally by a professional engineering institution.

During your placement years, you will work closely with other engineers, our military personnel, and wider industry partners to understand how Defence Equipment & Support procures, delivers, and supports our Armed Forces.

You’ll undertake a comprehensive programme of study, associated with the Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard, on a three-year Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship.

What to expect from each year:

Year 1 - Full-time attendance at a training provider to learn core engineering skills and study towards recognised engineering qualifications.

Years 2 & 3 - You’ll carry out four six-month technical-focused placements in different delivery teams in Bristol, with block release to attend the training to further enhance your academic study.

Some technical-focused placements may necessitate you working away from Bristol.

On successful completion of your three-year programme, you may be offered a permanent position with DE&S , that reflects the interests and skills you’ve developed throughout the programme.

Please note: Because of the classification of some of the information related to certain projects, some work-based placements may be open to Sole UK Nationals?only.

From year two onwards, you’ll be based at MOD Abbey Wood, in Bristol.. You’ll be required to attend the office regularly, at the request of your Scheme Manager or Placement Supervisor. This attendance will be at your own expense and costs for travel or accommodation will not be reimbursed.
